Shanna Stone, ARNP

Shanna Stone is a Board Certified family nurse practitioner specializing in dermatology.   Shanna has been working at Water’s Edge Dermatology since 2001.  In 2010 she earned her master’s degree in nursing after completing the family nurse practitioner program with Florida Atlantic University.  During this time she was inducted into the international honor society of nursing, Sigma Theta Tau.  In 2007 she earned her bachelor’s of science in nursing degree, also from Florida Atlantic University. Both degrees were awarded with Magna Cum Laude honors.

After becoming a registered nurse in 2006, it was Dr. Schiff who encouraged Shanna to pursue her master’s degree and become a nurse practitioner.  She always felt tremendous respect and admiration for Dr. Schiff and the highly skilled advanced practice providers she assisted and believed this was an opportunity to share in their common foci of providing high quality personalized care to their patients.  It was a daily occurrence for one of the practitioners to selflessly take the time to offer their knowledge, expertise, or to include her in a learning experience.  She believes the experiences absorbed by working alongside the members of this exceptional group as well as the daily patient interactions has paved the way allowing her to offer her patients the same caliber healthcare she would provide to her own family.

Shanna believes the skin is an often underestimated organ that guides the well trained eye to alterations in one’s state of health and disease.  Manifestations of skin disorders often serve as initial diagnostic markers of internal and external diseases such as autoimmune diseases or cancers. She maintains a special interest in the management of chronic skin diseases such as acne, vitiligo, and psoriasis. Shanna understands the severe psychosocial impact these diseases have on the quality of life of her patients and strives to provide the most up to date, patient centered care options in all areas of her specialty.

Shanna lives with her husband Ron and their son, Bryson.  They enjoy boating, biking, and fishing together and can often be found enjoying these activities on the weekends, with their sunscreen on of course!
