Matthew Elias, D.O.
Upon completing his term as Chief Resident in Dermatology, Dr. Elias is excited to commence his career as a Dermatologist at Water's Edge Dermatology. Dr. Elias is passionate about raising awareness of skin cancer and sun protection. Pointedly, he regularly volunteers for community skin cancer screenings. Additionally, he lectures frequently and has published numerous academic papers. Dr. Elias is a member of many local and national professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Mohs Surgery.
Dr. Elias’ interests include all facets of adult and pediatric medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, photodynamic therapy and cosmetic procedures (including: Botox, Restylane, Radiesse, Juvederm, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels). Dr. Elias' expertise includes the early diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers especially with regards to utilizing state of the art treatment techniques such as Mohs surgery, an innovative technique that affords the best outcome with the least amount of tissue loss. As well, Dr. Elias treats acne, rashes, psoriasis, eczema, fungi, moles, cysts and other skin conditions.
Dr. Elias grew up on Long Island, New York and then attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he earned his Bachelor of Art Degree. While at Tulane University Dr. Elias was fortunate enough to spend a semester traveling around the world on the Semester at Sea program, a truly transformative study-abroad experience that emphasized global awareness while promoting a greater understanding of all peoples and all cultures. To that end Dr. Elias has stayed active in the global community by volunteering on medical mission trips all over the world, providing care to those less fortunate than us.
