With more than 30 years of experience in the dermatology field, Dr. Steven Shapiro is a skilled and exceptional dermatologist with a passion for and expertise in psoriasis and pediatric dermatology.
Dr. Shapiro earned his medical degree from Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed a pediatric internship and residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York, where he was selected as chief resident of pediatrics. Finally, he completed his fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, California.
While Dr. Shapiro served as a major in the United States Army in Honolulu, Hawaii, he completed a dermatology training program at Tripler Army Hospital.
Dr. Shapiro shares his wealth of knowledge and experience with aspiring dermatologists as an associate professor in the Department of Dermatology and the Department of Pediatrics at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he is also the section head of the Section of Pediatric Dermatology.
A well-known author and editor, Dr. Shapiro has published two textbooks (Adolescent Dermatology and Adolescent Medicine), edited several journals (including The Journal of Pediatrics) and has written more than 30 articles and publications.
Dr. Shapiro is frequently invited at a guest speaker at medical conferences throughout the country.
