The Vein Center at Water’s Edge Dermatology diagnoses and treats vein conditions under the leadership of the nation’s foremost experts in vein care.

Unlike other dermatology practices who may only be treating conditions at the surface level, our very own Dr. Felipe Collares, MD brings a more holistic approach to vein care with the understanding that your veins can be indicative of good or ailing health.

“Our patients often have underlying symptoms such as pain, heaviness, cramps, swelling, skin changes and discoloration. All of those symptoms can be the underlying cause of spider and varicose veins. At Water’s Edge, we’re here to diagnose and treat those concerns, not just address them cosmetically.”

At Water’s Edge Dermatology, Dr. Collares performs minimally invasive treatments to target the root cause of vein issues. These procedures are performed at the office with the goal to improve symptoms and signs related to vein disease with minimal recovery time as patients can resume most normal activities immediately. Cosmetic treatment options are also available to patients with visible spider veins to improve the appearance of their legs. Symptom relief and cosmetic improvement of the legs can have a significant positive impact on the quality of life of these patients.

Dr. Collares’ impressive resume includes board certifications in vascular and interventional radiology and more than 10 years of teaching experience at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Collares is also the author of the book Varicose Veins: Practical Guides in Interventional Radiology and the “ACP Phlebology Safety Checklist,” both of which are well-respected in the medical community and frequently referenced. Through these accomplishments, Dr. Collares has earned a reputation as one of the most respected leaders in vein care – and one of the best doctors to see for vein treatments.

Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Dr. Collares began his career at Federal University of Minas Gerais, where he earned a doctorate degree in medicine. He then earned a master of science degree in Radiology at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Dr. Collares completed two residencies in radiology in Brazil and research and clinical fellowships in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. After completing his training, Dr. Collares joined the BIDMC faculty as Director of Vascular Ultrasound and the hospital’s prestigious Vein Care Program.

Most recently, Dr. Collares accepted the prestigious role of Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, where he has the opportunity to continue teaching and extend his academic achievements. Dr. Collares is fluent in both English and Portuguese.

There are few other doctors who bring such a wealth of knowledge to vascular health.
