What started as a two-person office has grown — one practice at a time.
Founded by Dr. Ted Schiff in 1998
The story of Water’s Edge Dermatology began in July 1998 when a young dermatologist, Dr. Ted Schiff, opened his own medical practice in the small south-central Florida community of Okeechobee after years of distinguished study and training.
“It was a two-person office with no computers. Everything was done manually. I even helped answer the phones,” said Dr. Schiff. “Good training, hard work, attention to detail and, above all else, dedication to great patient care, is what allowed us to slowly, but steadily, build a successful practice.”
Providing Quality Skin Care Throughout Florida
The team’s determination to provide the highest standard of quality skin care at a local dermatology practice, coupled with a promise to create the best possible patient experience, did not go unnoticed.
Positive word-of-mouth about Dr. Schiff and Water’s Edge Dermatology spread. Over the following years, Water’s Edge Dermatology grew, one practice at a time. As Dr. Schiff continued to grow the practice over the years, it was never for the sake of getting bigger; it was in response to the need for a broader range of skin care in more communities.
Water’s Edge Dermatology has grown from the small practice in Okeechobee to more than 30 offices located throughout Florida. It hasn’t only grown in size but also in scope. The practice now employs dozens of medical providers and staff members who provide services ranging from general dermatology and skin cancer treatment to cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery, and vein health services.
One thing hasn’t changed since 1998, and it never will: Our passion and commitment to treat every patient who walks through our doors as family. Those are the Water’s Edge Dermatology Values. They always have and always will guide the evolution of this practice.
