About Elizabeth Leen-Burns

Elizabeth Leen-Burns, APRN, DCNP, FNP-C, MSN, joined Water’s Edge Dermatology as a dermatology-certified nurse practitioner with an abundance of experience. Ms. Leen-Burns has more than 25 years of experience as a nurse practitioner and 15 years of experience in dermatology. Prior to practicing in dermatology, Elizabeth practiced in OB/GYN as a certified nurse midwife delivering expert care to women in gynecology, pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

She began her dermatology career in Jacksonville, Fla., where she studied under a prominent dermatologist learning skin cancer evaluation, surgical excisions, Mohs closures, and extensive general dermatology. She then went on to develop a laser safety and training program. Ms. Leen-Burns mentored and trained many nurse practitioner and physician assistant students in her busy practice.

She grew up in Boca Raton, Fla., one of 12 children to a doctor and a nurse. She attended Florida Atlantic University to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She quickly excelled in nursing and was accepted at a young age to the University of Florida Nursing School to obtain a master’s degree in nursing, specializing in women’s health and maternity care. She then went on to practice in women’s health in Jacksonville, Fla. In 2007, she began her career in dermatology.

Ms. Leen-Burns has a passion for dermatology and has devoted her professional life to becoming an expert in dermatological care. She brings a vast knowledge of and is committed to staying up to date with the latest developments in the field and applying it to her daily practice. She excels in dermoscopic evaluation and treatment of skin cancers. In general dermatology, she treats a wide range of skin disorders including acne, psoriasis, cysts, moles, and other skin lesions. She especially enjoys dermatology surgery for which she was expertly trained.

When she is not working, Elizabeth enjoys her family and ocean activities.
