About Susan Hammerling
Susan Hammerling, PA-C, MPAS, DSDPA, is a highly experienced, board-certified physician assistant with over two decades of specialized expertise in dermatology. Throughout her career, she has been committed to providing advanced care in the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair, and nail conditions. She brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for educating her patients on the best dermatological practices, emphasizing personalized treatment plans tailored to meet individual needs.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in physician assistant studies from Nova Southeastern University, followed by a master of physician assistant studies from the University of Nebraska. She is a Diplomate of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, demonstrating her advanced level of clinical competence in dermatology. Her affiliations also include the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Florida Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and the National Psoriasis Foundation.
In addition to her clinical work, se is actively engaged in professional development and remains at the forefront of the latest advancements in dermatology. She is a dedicated member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, reflecting her commitment to offering the highest level of care.
A Melbourne, Fla., native, Susan has been deeply involved in the Brevard County community since moving back to Viera in 2011. Her dedication extends beyond dermatology, with a strong focus on community service. She serves as a board member of Cocoa Village Playhouse and Aging Matters/Meals on Wheels and she also volunteers as a Guardian Ad Litem. Susan’s belief in making a positive impact on people’s lives is evident in both her professional and personal endeavors.
Outside of work, Susan enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and their four children. She loves traveling to destinations like Asheville, N.C., and Bar Harbor, Maine, and is an active supporter of various local nonprofits.
Susan looks forward to continuing her mission of helping patients in the Viera area achieve healthy, radiant skin through compassionate, comprehensive care.
