The Matrix Pro applicator is equipped with the thinnest microneedles on the market, which deliver short-pulse RF energy to the skin in a fractional manner. Combining its one-of-a-kind Depth Intelligence™ technology with real-time impedance monitoring, the Matrix Pro applicator can deliver up to three distinct user-controlled depth and energy settings in a single insertion, allowing for customized and consistent treatment results. Treatment outcomes include new collagen creation, and marked improvement in facial wrinkles and an overall skin appearance and texture.
The Sublime applicator is designed to heat skin layers with a combination of infrared (IR) and bipolar RF energies to shorten aged collagen fibers and treat wrinkles for a smoother skin appearance. This needle-less and non-invasive treatment allows for clinically proven outcomes with minimal downtime.
The Sublative RF applicator stimulates new collagen growth and resurfaces the skin by delivering bipolar RF energy to the skin in a needle-less, fractional manner via an array of multi-electrode pins. This treatment effects in smoother skin and the reduction of facial wrinkles.
Matrix Pro results are visible within one month, and patients can expect improvements to continue for up to 12 months or longer. We recommend one to two maintenance sessions per year to maintain these results.

Chemical Peels
A chemical peel is an excellent way to jump-start a treatment program and achieve smoother, healthier-looking skin. Chemical peeling is used to improve the skin’s appearance by applying a chemical solution to the skin, causing the top layers of skin to separate and peel off. Used alone, or in concert with other treatments, a peel can dramatically soften lines, treat acne, and revitalize skin tone, color, and texture. A chemical peel can also be used to treat melasma, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and sun-damaged skin.
Consult with your Water’s Edge Dermatology provider to determine which peel is best for your unique needs.
Chemical Peel FAQs
A chemical peel can:
- Reduce fine lines, especially under the eyes and around the mouth
- Treat mild scarring and certain types of acne
- Diminish skin discoloration, such as sun spots, age spots, liver spots, freckles, or blotchiness
- Refresh skin texture and color
Prior to treatment, you may be instructed to stop certain medications and prepare the skin with pre-conditioning creams, which you would apply at home for a specified period of time. A chemical peel is usually performed in a Water’s Edge Dermatology office and involves the following:
- Cleansing the skin with an agent that removes excess oils; eyes and hair are protected
- Applying the peel to the designated location (face, neck, chest, hands, arms, or legs), using one or more chemical solutions, such as glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid (phenol)
- Using the proper peeling agent (superficial, medium, or deep) based upon the type of skin damage present and your desired results
During a chemical peel, most patients experience a warm-to-hot sensation that may last about 5 to 10 minutes and may be followed by some stinging. A deeper peel can be more painful and require medication during or after the procedure. The deeper the peel, the longer the recovery time.
To minimize the reappearance of lesions and lines, dermatologists recommend daily use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen, one that blocks ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays.
Depending upon the type of peel applied, there may be a mild to severe sunburn-like sensation. The gentlest type of peel, a superficial peel, usually produces redness, which is followed by scaling that lasts three to five days.
Medium-depth and deep peels can result in swelling and blisters that may break, crust, turn brown, and peel off over a period of seven to 14 days or longer. Some peels may require surgical tape to be placed on part or all of the treated skin.
People with certain skin types have a risk of developing a temporary or permanent skin color change. This risk may increase if you take birth control pills, have been pregnant, or have a family history of brownish discoloration on the face. Persistent redness also may occur after a chemical peel and can last for months.
Although very low, there is a risk of scarring after a chemical peel. If scarring does occur, it can usually be treated with good results. Proper precautions should be taken for patients with a history of fever blisters, cold sores, or keloids.
A chemical peel:
- Cannot tighten loose or sagging skin
- Does not remove deep scars
- Cannot change pore size or remove broken blood vessels on the face; however, the procedure may improve the appearance of these conditions
Your Water’s Edge dermatologist can perform other procedures to address these conditions.
Microneedling
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a non-surgical treatment that uses very fine, short, sterile needles to create tiny punctures in your skin, prompting a natural, collagen-stimulating healing process that corrects flaws and improves skin quality.
Wrinkles and scars do not have to be permanent! Microneedling is an innovative way to minimize imperfections and give a fresh look to your skin by encouraging the generation of new skin cells and diminishing scar tissue. This treatment is an excellent choice for acne scar treatment or anti-aging skin care. Microneedling helps produce smoother and younger looking skin without the side effects or downtime and is applicable to all skin types.
A related treatment is Matrix Pro, which is a type of radio frequency (RF) microneedling designed to correct, maintain, and restore skin of various ages.
