What is Restylane-L? How Does it Work?
Restylane-L® contains medium-sized particles of hyaluronic acid to restore fullness and volume to the skin, while correcting moderate to deep facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth. Restylane may also be used for lip enhancement in patients over the age of 21. The “L” simply indicates that the solution also contains the anesthetic lidocaine to minimize the initial sting of the injection.
Your face actually begins to age when you’re in your 20s. This is when hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps provide fullness and elasticity, begins to diminish. As it does, the skin loses volume and no longer looks as plump and smooth as it once did.
What can I expect from treatment?
After determining the areas you want to treat with your Water’s Edge Dermatology practitioner, Restylane® is injected into the treatment areas using an ultra-fine needle to create the desired aesthetic effect. Since the injection contains lidocaine, you should feel very little discomfort. The procedure takes 10-20 minutes with little to no downtime, so you can immediately return to work or your daily routine.
When will I see results and how long will they last?
You will see results almost immediately. Following the procedure, you will notice increased volume and a smoother, younger-looking appearance. Most patients see lasting results for up to 18 months with Restylane.
