Palm Beach Gardens, FL – Water’s Edge Dermatology, with 35 offices throughout Florida, announced today that John P. Minni, D.O., FAOCD, has been selected to serve as the President of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology (AOCD) for the 2019-2020 term. The AOCD is dedicated to promoting the practice of osteopathic dermatology on a national level and was recognized as a Specialty College of the American Osteopathic Association in 1958. The AOCD participates in the accreditation of 32 residency programs that train more than 150 residents annually.
In his role as President of the AOCD, Dr. Minni will lead efforts to collaborate with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), build participation in the organization among the members, unify the accreditation system and shape the direction of the College over the next year.
“I am humbled by this great honor and the opportunity to serve the AOCD,” said Dr. Minni. “We need more of an osteopathic dermatology education providing an outstanding resource for physicians and extenders.”
Dr. Minni is board certified in dermatology and family practice. He graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and completed his internship at Union Hospital/St. Barnabas Healthcare System in New Jersey. He then completed residencies in both family medicine and dermatology at Columbia Hospital and the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, serving as chief resident in dermatology.
Dr. Minni’s dermatology interests include surgery, dermatopathology, contact dermatitis, and cosmetic dermatology. He has published several papers and is currently working on chapters in dermatology and cosmetic surgery textbooks. He sees patients at Water’s Edge Dermatology offices in Okeechobee, Port St. Lucie and Stuart, Florida.
“On behalf of the Water’s Edge team, I’d like to congratulate Dr. Minni on his selection to lead the AOCD,” said Ted Schiff, MD, Founder and Chief Medical Director for Water’s Edge Dermatology. “We are fortunate to have such an esteemed colleague on our medical team serving our patients’ dermatology needs.”
