About Dr. Julie Forero
Passionate about sharing knowledge with her patients, Dr. Forero is thrilled to join Water’s Edge Dermatology with its history of commitment to patient education. While she strives to stay current with state-of-the-art and cutting-edge therapies in dermatology, she does not neglect the “old-school” basics either — a solid history, a thorough skin screening, straight-forward communication, and cost-effective, proven treatments.
Dr. Forero received her medical degree from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in California and completed her internship at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. She accomplished a translational medical dermatology research fellowship at The Ohio State University Medical Center and finished her dermatology residency at Larkin Hospital in Miami, Florida. She earned her B.A. in Biology from Reed College. Portland, Oregon, where she did her senior thesis on the differential secretion of peptides.
Memberships of Dr. Forero’s include the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Of additional note and interest is that Dr. Forero has also worked as a sub-investigator for clinical trials testing new treatments in dermatology for FDA approval.
Dr. Forero is married with two daughters and enjoys jogging, yoga, fitness, nutrition, cooking, traveling, reading, and learning about other cultures, and as she puts it, “growing in her walk with God”. Dr. Forero is the first in her family to enter medicine, after her physicist father nurtured her scientific mind and investigative spirit during childhood.
