In addition to cosmetic plastic surgery, Dr. Juan Giachino is highly skilled in reconstructive plastic surgery for scars, skin cancer (Mohs) surgery, and breast reconstruction after mastectomy. He also performs hand surgery to relieve pain from carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s contracture, and trigger finger. Learn more below.
If you have a scar you are unhappy with or you have had prior scar revision surgery with unsatisfactory results, Dr. Giachino can help. He has years of experience improving the appearance of all types of unsightly scars, as well as complex scars that require skin grafting and flap surgery.
Skin Cancer Surgery
After your Water’s Edge Dermatology practitioner performs Mohs micrographic surgery to remove skin cancer, Dr. Giachino will close the surgical site. The technique he uses will depend on the size and location of the cancerous tissue that was removed. Dr. Giachino is dedicated to ensuring that you have minimal scarring and the best results possible.
Dr. Giachino performs breast reconstruction surgery after complete or partial removal of the breast for cancer (mastectomy). Breast reconstruction can be done using either your own tissue or implants, or sometimes both. If your own tissue is used, skin and fat will be taken from your abdominal area and transferred to the breast, resulting in a more natural appearance.
If implants are used for your breast reconstruction, Dr. Giachino will place a partially filled expander or temporary implant in the breast. Over the course of several months, he will fill the expander to the desired volume, and then replace it with a silicone or saline breast implant in a second operation.
Dr. Giachino also performs hand surgery for a number of conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s contracture, and trigger finger.
